David Tlale presented his interns’ show which was opened by his previous interns who have now gone to graduate after undergoing a one-year mentorship and internship under his watchful eye in his studio. To which Ntando Ngwenya went to win the coveted prize of being David Tlale’s junior designer. David Tlale’s 2016 interns’ showcase was followed by a collection presented by the contestants from Tlale’s fashion design reality TV show, The Intern By David Tlale. Initially, I was a little bit confused as to why Ntando and Sihle were showcasing under David Tlale’s interns’ umbrella and then I saw the camera started rolling then it made sense that, it must be part of the TV show’s storyline. Sidebar: I absolutely enjoyed Cyla Gonsolve’s collection. One of the reality TV show interns showcased three looks. Judging by other designers who showcased five looks each, I deduced that one of the challenge’s requirements was a presentation of five looks. When I went backstage I saw the contestant who showcased three looks hurling her collection in tears. Across the room was Tlale toasting a flute of bubbles with his TV crew team for a job well done. The contestant must have got the unceremonious chop directly after her fashion week debut and David and the team must have had a successful showcase and filming session. Gotta love showbiz!
