Pink Dollar is a queer project written, directed and performed by Antje Schupp, Kieron Jina, Mbali Mdluli and Annalyzer. Antje Schupp is a white German tourist who landed in Johannesburg and met a Xhosa black butch lesbian, Mbali Mdluli then later got introduced to, a coloured gay man, Kieron Jina, and a DJ, Annalyzer. The play tackles overarching LGBTQIA issues including culture, heteronormativity, patriarchy, and non-binary and there is a strong sense that the four don’t give a fuck about labels. The play is queer in its content and queer in its style. Laced with club sounds, contemporary dance and a fusion of Xhosa songs and British rap.
